Kick-off for Modernisation of Digital Systems

Case story: workshopping with Netplaza

Netplaza is a fast growing Finnish internet operator that in 2018 joined the Cinia Group. In the beginning of 2020 Cinia was revamping it’s optical fibre business and getting ready for the high-speed growth of the new business line. The Cinia business line focusing on regional fiber networks needed to have their internal systems lean, efficient and scalable to support the growth of their business.

Netplaza’s Head of Business Development Hanne Nivala and Head of Tech and Development Jukka-Pekka Laulajainen had recognized this was a perfect timing to go through their business processes, procedures and existing digital systems involved in the sales and marketing, production, operations and support and stakeholder relations.

“In such a busy phase of kick-starting a new organization, it is difficult to find the time to stop and think through your processes. We realized that the most effective way was to invite external facilitators to organize a workshop for us,“ Jukka-Pekka Laulajainen comments.

The goal was to make the scale up for operations of the new business line as effective as possible. To do that Cinia needed an ERP system that would combine the separate existing systems as well as automate and support the processes that were still manually executed.

To kick-off the planning for the ERP system two days of hard workshopping led by the Montel experts took place in Oulu: first day was used to form a clear image of the whole ERP system Cinia needed and the second day was used to create a roadmap and plan concrete work packages with estimates of the amount of work needed for each step for them to make the ERP come to life.

“We just detached ourselves from day-to-day activities for the duration of the workshop and let Montel experts facilitate the process. This investment of two days resulted in a very clear picture of our operations and what we need to support the fast-growing business," Jukka-Pekka Laulajainen continues.
